Expending Energy | June Self-Portrait

I’ve been shooting a lot lately.

50% of my 2013 wedding bookings happened to fall in the early summer months, so right now life is full of dressing up, packing my bags,
hitting the road with coffee and methodically drumming out the photographer’s rhythm: shoot, upload, edit, export, shoot, upload, edit….

I’ve really enjoyed it.

As you know, this is my first year of taking as much work as I can get, and it’s been an entirely different pace than I have been accustomed to.
I’ve enjoyed the mental challenge of regular creativity, and to some degree even the long stretches of editing
that cause you to feel as though there’s a layer of saran wrap over your eyeballs.

Most of all, I’ve realized just how much energy I pour into photographing sessions, and I’m trying to learn to be a better steward of it.
Proportioning it correctly, not wasting it, unleashing it.

I’ve learned that energy, whether mental, creative or physical, is a blessing. Not one to be taken for granted.
After all, you can only pour out what you have been given.
