Detroit Lakes Holy Rosary Winter Wedding

Every tree in Detroit Lakes was dressed in white on Saturday in to celebrate the winter wedding of Devin & Kelly! What an incredibly lucky, frozen moment in time! I’ve been photographing weddings for over 12 years and I’ve never seen a January wedding day with moderate temperatures, very little wind and frosty trees that lasted all day.
Devin & Kelly were married at Holy Rosary Church surrounded by the sea of poinsettia plants that adorn the sanctuary every year at Christmas time. Kelly has wanted to get married here since she was a little girl!  It was a joy to see a couple so full of life and love pledge their lives to each other. Because of reception restrictions, Devin & Kelly chose to do their first dances at the end of the aisle immediately following the ceremony. The creativity of my couples continues to blow me away!

Before bundling up and heading to the Spitfire for an outdoor dinner with their family, we dodged some fish houses and took a few photos on the lake!
And we found a gazebo!
Reception time!
Not many people can say they’ve attended an outdoor, winter wedding reception in their Carhartt overalls!

A warm fire and chicken & wild rice soup kept everyone nice and toasty.
