Minnesota Country Church Wedding Photos
Good morning, everyone! Today I am happy to feature Jay and Emily’s wedding. These two were married on Saturday at Bakke Lutheran near Detroit Lakes, MN, a little country church that holds much of the Gjersvig Family heritage within its walls. Many generations of Gjersvigs have passed through its doors and experienced life’s defining moments here. How SPECIAL to photograph at a place so rich with history and meaning! I hope you enjoy these Minnesota Country Church Wedding Photos.
Emily dressed with the help of her sister, Beth.
The small triangle of fabric you see at the peak of the gathering was a piece of her grandmother’s gown, sewn into Emily’s dress.
Jay and Emily kept the tradition of exchanging wedding gifts to each other.
Emily carried her new necklace in hand to the first look. Such an exciting, nervous moment!
But all was well the moment they were in each other’s arms.
Jay put the new necklace around the neck of his bride.
The simple beauty of Minnesota lakes country.
Emilyyyyyyy, you are stunning!
Let it be said, Jay takes good care of his girl. All the way down to offering her Carmex during the photo session. I love this photo!
It was lovely to be at the Gjersvig Family Farm for these portraits.
Sometimes the adorable navy signs cooperate, and sometimes the wind blows and you just have to laugh.
I love this photo — these are the best smiles and you can feel their happy friendship!
Jay and Emily have a LOT of nieces and nephews. A couple of them played in a hockey game once and both Jay and Emily were there to watch. They met, and the rest… is history. 🙂
Jay brought his tractor for a few photos.
Look at these three!
#UsherSelfie might be a new thing?
The quilt on the right was made and hung as a way of honoring Emily’s Grandmother who played organ at Bakke for many, many years.
Ceremony time!
I LOVE the cozy, deep colors of the country church.
Mr. & Mrs.!!!
I found a drawing of Bakke back in its early days. Fun to compare with how the church looks now.
Most of the guests in attendance were family. After the wedding, many took time to visit the loved ones who have gone on before them.
Jay and Emily took time for more portraits in and around the church. The Minnesota skies and country roads are both simple and breathtaking.
Jay and Emily’s grand exit!
High fives as they entered the reception!
A down home, delicious dinner served by Shirley’s Cruisin’ Kitchen.
First dances!
Cake cutting … and smashing. 🙂
And a few photos in the setting sun!
Congratulations to Jay and Emily as they walk the road of newlyweds and establish their own family heritage!
