Photographing John and Katie’s wedding last August was like drinking a tall glass of frosty lemonade. Sweet and so very refreshing. I had the pleasure of photographing their engagement session earlier in the summer at Bonanzaville in West Fargo, ND and I knew from the moment John and Katie booked me that their wedding would be full of joy.
Their day started at the Courtyard Marriot in Moorhead, just minutes away from the park where they’d say “I do”. The gorgeous courtyard area made a great backdrop for Katie’s lovely gown and other details.
One set of Katie’s pearls was borrowed from her mother.
John and Katie have a thing for letters. Real letters. John calls North Caroline home, so there were many letters that passed back and forth between these two in the early days of their relationship. Their wedding day was no different…Katie had a special letter that I escorted to John’s room.
After reading the sweet letter from his bride-to-be, John excitedly (and perhaps a bit nervously) finished getting ready to meet Katie.
Their first look was adorable.
First looks are such a wonderful way to start your wedding day. All the nerves are out, and you’re able to enjoy your picture times and soak the day in together.
The happiest brides are the most beautiful brides. β₯
John and Katie made some time in their day for reading some favorite past letters. Including one John had written to “My Wife” many years before even meeting Katie!
A denim quilt ( a wedding gift ) made a wonderful background for a few images!
Crazy wedding party people!
I love family photos that are relaxed, joyful and genuine.
And a little bit of silliness never hurts. π
Three generational ring shot! Β Love this!
Katie’s sister Kylie got married literally WEEKS before Katie…..
…and now Dad says he’s broke! π
It was a windy day out on the lawn at Gooseberry Park, but the ceremony proceeded without a hitch.
So, so happy to be married! π
A collection of family wedding photos decorated part of the reception hall.
Ruby Tuesday’s catered a delicious dinner for the guests.
Katie (an elementary school teacher) made sure to include lots of fun things for the kids to do at her reception!
The mismatched China was a perfect complement to this outdoor wedding theme.
The sisters with their brand, spankin’ new husbands. π
I had to include this image…this lovely lady is the one who introduced John and Katie to each other. I think they owe her one. π
Off to their honeymoon in 3……….2………
…………..1!
Congratulations, you two!
These are great Abs! I LOVE the 3 gen ring shot! And, kudos to the couple for some creative dΓ©cor….love the pinwheel flower things (vs traditional flowers). One question, what did they toss as the couple left for their honeymoon…nuts, oreos, brownish bouncy balls…
Thanks, Tami!!! π And they were pine cones! Haha!!
Abby! I just looked through these again and love them all over again. Thank you for capturing so many wonderful moments throughout our special day!
